THERE TO HERE AND BEYOND
Saw this picture and it hit me.
These are all the U.S. Presidents I've grown up with that are still around.
As the accompanying article elaborates:
Dwight Eisenhower was in office when I came into the world, and I was too young to grok JFK and Lyndon Johnson, as a boy growing up in the Middle East.
My first consciousness of the Presidency really started with the word "Watergate" and Richard M. Nixon.
Gerald Ford became familiar mostly via Chevy Chase, who did to him what Tina Fey did to Sarah Palin. Jimmy Carter I identified with since he was from Georgia, next door to Alabama, which was the first state I spent any time in going to undergraduate school at Auburn.
After that I religiously tracked what every President was about, what people hope they'd accomplished and what actually happened. And now in a few days, we start on yet another stretch of this long road. With any luck I should see at least 3-4 two-termers before checking out.
What does your personal line of Presidents past, present and future look like?
Collectively, this is a picture of the folks that got us into our current mess all in one photo!
