UNEXPECTED CHOICES
My first thought on hearing about John McCain picking Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his V.P. choice on the Republican ticket, was how life sometimes imitates art. Of course, I was thinking back to the short-lived TV Series Commander-in Chief, where Geena Davis plays the first female President of the U.S., as this Wikipedia note reminds us:
"Commander in Chief was an American drama television series that focused on the presidential administration and family of Mackenzie Allen (portrayed by Geena Davis), the first female President of the United States, who ascended to the role after the previous chief executive, Teddy Bridges (played by Will Lyman), died in office from a sudden cerebral aneurysm."

Many Democrats of course, hope that the Biden-Palin V.P. debate is a reprise of the famous Bentsen-Quayle debate of 1988. In case you missed that one, here's a YouTube clip of the high-light of that evening:
Of course, they'd substitute "Jack Kennedy" with "Hillary Clinton" in the mind's eye version of that clip.
The conservative Republican supporters of Sarah Palin of course, would hope that should the unimaginable should happen, and Sarah Palin does have to step in to become our Commander-in-Chief, her first days on the job could go something like this:
Only, Sarah Palin would of course be going on to vet her ideal list of Supreme Court Justices after-wards.
