WRITERS RAMP
The end may be near as they say, and in this instance, it'd be a good thing for most TV and movie fans. The four month writer's strike in Hollywood may be coming to an end, perhaps. As this New York Times article notes:
"Informal talks between representatives of Hollywood’s striking writers and production companies have eliminated the major roadblocks to a new contract, which could lead to a tentative agreement as early as next week, according to people who were briefed on the situation but requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak..."
"The breakthrough occurred Friday after two weeks of closed-door discussions between the sides. Even if approved by leaders of the guilds, a deal would require ratification by a majority of the more than 10,000 active guild members."
No details yet of course on how the strong differences in revenue splits from the Internet get resolved. But I suspect we'll know everything in good time.
So maybe we will get off the reality programming gruel, and be finally able to rich servings of Law & Order, CSIs of various flavors, and of course Lost.
Oh, and also another really bloated Oscar show to boot.
