FUN AND FRIVOLOUS
On a cross-country flight yesterday, the guy next to me fired up his Dell laptop with Vista, picked a few music tracks to play on iTunes, and proceeded to select one of several games that come with Vista.
He spent an hour playing Hearts, followed by half an hour of Chess, all while I was pecking away at spreadsheets on my new MacBook Pro.
The games looked pretty good, as you can see from the images above.
For the first time, I did feel that something was missing on the Mac.
They may come with cool bundled applications like iPhoto and iDVD, but how come they don't come with any games?
It's the first time that I felt my Mac was lacking, and it was a strange feeling.
Even the iPhone in my bag was no help in this department. No games bundled whatsoever.
Had to fire up Brickbreaker on the old Blackberry for a few minutes.
But Vista still looked more fun.
*Chuckle*
Well it's nice to see that if you spend $200-$400 you get a 3d chess game, free of charge.

Wow.. I havent used a Mac in a long long time... but Im amazed that there arent any games on it. I remember the one I had in college had a couple not very good bundled ones, but at least there was something there.

Mac OS X has had a nice 3D chess game included since version 10.0 way back in 2000—and it's still included today. I can't imagine how you missed that one.
