ME TOO
Normally, a confirmation by a senior Dell executive that the company plans to introduce a Tablet PC
offering later this year, would have me fairly excited and jazzed (see this full discussion on Techmeme).
Dell even does it in fairly casual style, via it's blog, with the executive in question, Jeff Clarke, clad in a very colorful shirt (image via jkOnTheRun post).
But after viewing the short video clip, I come away with as much excitement as I did when Dell entered say, the MP3 player market, or when they entered the PDA market.
It may be unfair, but at first glance, the product line entry and initial introduction, feels like something that they feel obligated to enter. And it feels like they're not quite sure how to come up with differentiated, head-turning features in the category, to really make a difference.
I'll reserve final judgment though, until the product is officially introduced later this year. Just to be really fair.
