That is a pretty compelling statistic about the failure of senators to win the presidency.
I believe JFK was the last one to succeed?
I recall that there is also a very good recent history about former governors succeeding . One theory is that senators are basically negotiators and legislators, while governors are more trained to "govern".
If web 2.0 will become important enough to be a factor in this year's presidential race, a dark horse like Richardson could have a chance. But I believe that is still a major IF.
