NO GOOGLE OR YAHOO! JOY
(Update: Both Yahoo! and Google services are now available, after being inaccessible for over four hours this moring...more below)
Oddest thing this morning.
As of 7:15 am EST, I've been unable to get on any Yahoo! or Google related sites.
This goes from the main sites like www.yahoo.com and www. google.com, to all their respective services, including mail, news, etc. The overseas domains of these services are also not accessible from my ISPs. This includes affiliated services like Yahoo!' s Flickr and del.icio.us, but not Google's YouTube.com, which I can access.
I can get on any other web sites out there, including MSN.com and AOL.com. I've rebooted my cable modem and router figuring it may be an ISP specific problem. I have Time Warner Road Runner cable modem connection at my location.
I also rebooted the various Macs and PCs on my network.
Didn't solve the problem.
Incidentally, I CAN access both my Google and Yahoo! services, including email on my mobile devices.
But not any of the PCs and Macs.
Scouring the various web news services, especially the ones focused on technology like Techmeme, Slashdot, Technorati, Digg, etc., also seems to have no mention of this problem being experienced by any one else.
So it may be specific to my geographical area.
Will continue to monitor it and provide updates as necessary, but it's the strangest "denial of service" seeming experience I've encountered on the web in recent memory.
In the meantime, I'm using MSN Search (aka Windows Live Search) for the first time in months. It's a bit strange not being able to search on Google or Yahoo!, which has been second nature for me for some time now.
Anyone else experiencing this problem out there?
(Update continued: Well, it looks like I'm not alone. Several folks have kindly commented below of experiencing similar problems accessing JUST Yahoo! and Google, and they also use Time Warner Road Runner as their ISP.
So it does seem anecdotally that the problem could be something to do with Time Warner Road Runner.
I've been able to access both Yahoo! and Google off one of my laptops equipped with a Verizon Wireless EV-DO broadband modem.
I've also been able to connect to both those services off a back-up DSL connection I have at this location on another network at my location.
But both Yahoo! and Google (along with their associated services including Gmail), become inaccessible when I go back to the wired broadband connection from Time Warner's Road Runner.
Still no broader mention of the problem on the various news services and blogs I am able to access. Other than the confirmation from the commenters to this post. (Thank you, all).
Again, any feedback/comments/questions/input from folks very much appreciated.)
Yes, I too am having this problem. Every other site loads, just not Yahoo or Google. Your blog is the only mention I could find.
Weird...

Yes, I've been having this same problem from my home network (roadrunner) but pinging both those sites from my web host (pair) works fine. I'm having a hard time finding out what's wrong, other than RR saying that the trouble is outside their network.
:: shrug ::
Wish I could find a source with information about what's going on...

Earthlink is technically my service provider, but it is through my cable company: Time Warner. I can access Google now (it was unavailable earlier), but Yahoo is still unavailable.

This may have had something to do with it
