SLEDGEHAMMER
Here's an anti-holiday spirit story for us all, just six days before Christmas.
Joystiq has a post that's almost hard to believe:
"The Florida Times-Union is reporting a group of thieves broke through the cement wall of a Jacksonville, Fla., Gamestop with a sledgehammer and made off with 13 Xbox 360s within.
The thieves cut the store's power, took the security tapes and scattered about a group of empty PS3 boxes, leading store manager Brad Kind to theorize the thieves "really wanted to get a PlayStation 3."
Can't you just feel their pain?
Of course, if they were mainstream gamers, they would have been hoping for a Nintendo Wii. It makes possible calisthenic moments like this in one's home.
If you still don't know what the Wii is all about, here's Steven Colbert with a brief description and demo:
But the PS3 has the highest absolute price in the pre-holiday market. Just look at these prices from eBay (sorted highest price down), for the Sony Playstation PS3, the Nintendo Wii, and of course the crooks' "bird-in-hand", the Microsoft xBox 360. The bad guys know their market. And maybe some software developer will have a sledgehammer-based game on this theme ready for the Wii next Christmas. Now that'd be something else to watch on YouTube.
