PILING ON
I don't know about you, but I'm a bit of a batch processor when it comes to snail mail. The stuff piles up for a little bit before I get around to sorting through it all.
I attacked my pile late yesterday evening and was reminded that some major holidays are approaching in a few weeks.
Not that the Christmas songs on the radio the day after Thanksgiving Day didn't give me a clue.
This cartoon from Cagle's sums up my experience carting the mail leftovers for re-cycling.
The next observation is anecdotal, but it doesn't seem that the growth of online shopping has put a dent in the number of holiday catalogs shipped every year.
May we all survive another holiday shopping season.
With the internet being one of the main mediums to reach a target audience, the cost of printing catalogs has gone down, leading companies to increase their spending on direct-mail advertising, which IMV to this day works well.
