Well, Comscore reports that "More than Half of MySpace Visitors are Now Age 35 or Older"
Someone tell News Corp. quick, it's advertisers. The conventional wisdom is that MySpace is very good way to reach primarily a teen demographic.
It's ironic that the demographic of the site is rapidly shifting while awareness of the site goes mainstream.
Check out this new TV commercial for HP's Pavilion notebook (via YouTube of course) , featuring snowboarder Shaun White.
It's hip and cool, as evidenced by it's MySpace reference. it's also interesting that you can't tel what the commercial is for, until the very end...it could be an ad for any online and/or web 2.0 company today.
Contrast it with Dell's effort to hit the same demographic with it's recent TV commercial.
Which one do you like more?
HP commercial is better, hands down!
It is innovative & shows they have thought out of the box! It made me curious to checkout their other commercials to see if they were as hip and stylish as the Shuan White one.
Whereas Dell, yea it maybe more "me" centered, but its a little overdone. They are trying to revamp the horrible customer services they had. Its good but nothing cool or "sexy".
Note to Dell: Its not always about personalization, its about being creative in how you put forth your ideas.
P.S. Somebody please forward the HP commercial link to Dell's cust. support email.

Ok. I'm assuming you have a Tivo, because this commercial is somewhere around at least half a year old, possibly older. (I didn't, for a while, that's why I actually saw it on TV.)
HP has another one like it featuring Jay-Z.
