As someone who carries around a Thinkpad ultra-portable without a built-in CD/DVD drive, and is trying to really cut down gadget clutter while traveling in these trying times, this otherwise mundane product from Plextor caught my eye (via Engadget):
"It looks like Plextor's going in for a piece of that "world's smallest" marketing action, with the launch of what it claims to be the most diminutive DVD writer currently on the market..."
"The function that prospective light traveling, laptop-toting buyers will be most happy about is the USB 2.0-bus powered capabilities of the drive, which will save you from carrying around a bulky AC adapter."
I'm already looking at my perfectly functional, but bulkier portable CD/DVD drive, and it's unsightly power adapter appendage taking up all this space in my travel bag, with a new-found disdain.
Sigh, another darned gidget (sic) that I possibly don't need, but probably must have.
Maybe you don't already have one of these things, and were in the market for one.
Have a great Sunday.
I'm a sucker for the tiny gadgetry. I haven't succumbed to the sub-notebook thinkpad yet, but when I do, I'll keep this one in mind (I'm still at a t-series because it's a primary machine for me right now.)
Thanks! You always post cool gadgets.
