LISTS FOR A LAZY SUNDAY
If you've got a hankering to check out this Web 2.0 thing and it's many developing facets on this wonderful Sunday (wherever you are), a good place to start is this list of many things Web 2.0 compiled by Richard MacManus at Read/Write web.
Thanks Richard.
I 'd particularly recommend the TechCrunch sub-list, providing a convenient collection of the interesting new companies in the space thus far, compiled and tracked by the redoubtable Mike Arrington.
In that sub-list, I'm particularly intrigued by one of the latest entries, Waxxi, which morphs the notion of a conventional podcast into a live, group experience. Here's how Mike describes the nascent company's service:
"I think Tracy Sheridan’s Waxxi is a great idea: a scheduled podcast where people can call in and participate (Frank Gruber has more)."
Haven't tried it myself yet, but hope to do so this coming week.
It's the type of podcast I found myself wishing for just a few weeks ago, and presto, someone's bothered to cook it up.
Speaking of new geeky things, I'm fascinated by the possibilities of a new set of technologies called OpenCroquet, described almost reverentially here by Robert Scoble, complete with pictures and links.
It's the open source version of a new framework for the virtual worlds as a new type of online platform I was going on about a few days ago. It's way beyond Web 2.0, and more likely Web 4 or 5.0 by the time it even approaches being a mainstream reality. CANNOT wait.
Anyway, I love lists, even geeky ones for slow-starting Sundays...much to my better half's pique.
Enjoy what's hopefully the better half of your weekend.
