PUSHING ONE'S LUCK
Here's a gadget I never thought I'd actually see.
"License Frame LED Frame", announces this headline from OhGizmo (via memeorandum).
It
describes a product I've often wished existed, mostly when I felt the urge to communicate certain emotions to a tail-gater on the freeway.
The solution?
As the article describes it,
"Enter the License Plate Flash Frame which uses super-bright LEDs (visible in the day or night) to scroll user-programmable messages. Using the wireless remote control you can enter up to 5 different messages, each up to 120 characters in length and I assume the remote can also trigger the different messages as applicable."
What does the sales copy from the website retailing the product suggest you use this product for?
"You can announce to everyone on the road that youre a fan of your sports team, advertise your business or tell the person behind you they don't know the first thing about safely operating a car!
Change the statement as often as you change your mood!"
Announce my favorite sports team...right. Now that a product like this actually exists, I don't know if I can actually muster the courage to order the thing and install it, even at a relatively affordable price of $49.99. It could escalate road rage to a whole new level. Sometimes it's better to let speeding dogs lie. Any thoughts? Would you order one? What if they came up with a premium version that allowed you to change the text by speaking into a wireless microphone (wi-fi/bluetooth enabled?) that had speech-to-text recognition, and instantly scrolled your thoughts onto the display as they crossed your mind?
You certainly wouldn't need 120 characters for that version :-)
