EASIER ON THE EYES
I for one, like the new re-designed TechCrunch, it's green patina and all. Founder Michael Arrington has more on the new look on his "casual" blog, Crunchnotes.
In particular, the layout is a lot cleaner, and the look more vibrant, with bigger pictures and all. The ads are now more organized, and easier to grok at a glance.
And I like the single "Subscribe" button for RSS feeds and email subscriptions. The former leads into the multiple choices of RSS feed readers, starting with the default as "My Yahoo!", which is a nice touch.
It's useful to have a "Company and Product Index" as one of the primary tabs up top. Future requests I'm sure will ask for that data to be organized by Industry segments and categories.
All in all, a great effort by Michael's designer, Rachel Cunliffe.
TechCrunch is a daily must read for most techies interested in internet startups. As noted in a great, unrelated post by VC Josh Kopelman in a post titled "53651":
"...many companies are targeting an audience of 53,651. That’s how many people subscribe to Michael Arrington’s TechCrunch blog feed."
He's making a different point in his post, but the number 53,651 is notable.
Wonder what the other 53,650 readers think of the new look.
P.S. I know the counter on the TechCrunch indicates that the site has 53135 readers as of this date, but I'll go with Josh's number for the purposes of this post.
Thank you Michael. At least someone likes the new TC. :-)
