IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS
It's great when you see a product you wish existed, finally show up for sale. An example would be this "Outlet To Go" compact travel strip from Monster (via Amazon).
I don't know about you but almost every time I stay at a hotel these days, I find myself having to plug in a few things overnight so they can be charged and ready to go the next day.
And you don't have to be a gadget-hound like yours truly for these gizmos to add up. Just your laptop, cell phone, and digital camera can take up three outlets right out of the box.
And if you're traveling with your significant other, you multiply that by two.
In my case, you'd then add a portable Wifi transmitter so that the wired broadband signal in a hotel room can be made wireless (see earlier post on this here). Not to mention the Blackberry in my case, and every once in a while, a portable game player like Sony's PSP.
So the need for outlets in a hotel room today quickly multiplies, and in most cases the outlets available to guests in these rooms are generally one or two.
And they're typically in the most inconvenient locations, like behind the bed-frame, or way on the other side of the desk.
So for a few months, I've been carrying around a regular power strip, but they can be ungainly to pack and carry.
The Monster Outlet to go seems like it could be the perfect solution, weighing less than a pound. It comes in four or six outlet configurations, in multiple colors (black, white and beige). Not that the color matters to me. I've wanted one of these things for so long, I'd get one in pink if that was the only color available.
The only problem is that it's not available yet on Amazon or any other retailer I can find, including at Monster's own web-site. So I guess I'll have to wait until they actually show up for sale somewhere.
Not the greatest gadget, I'll admit, but really necessary when you need to keep all those gadgets running on the road.
What would be even better is the ability to charge all electronic devices from a single USB hub that can be plugged into the wall or through a laptop with devices using the USB ports of the laptop to charge.
