"GO STEELERS!"
(Update 2.4.07, Here's the latest post on the Big Game, along with the post on Superbowl XI (41) ad outlook).
With the Superbowl about to start in a bit and my wife being from Pennsylvania and a die-hard Steelers fan, the pre-game excitement is palpable in our household.
As a naturalized US citizen, I'm still trying to get a handle on the rules of the game. Having said that, I'm addicted to the Superbowl commercials, like millions of other folks.
I'm all set with my laptop to track the commercials both online and off, much to the chagrin of my better half (we've got some company over).
This year though there are some more online options for Superbowl commercial junkies like yours truly.
The Chicago Tribune for example has a good article titled "How the web is playing off Superbowl". It starts off by highlighting how old media is protecting it's turf online:
"Television may be rushing headlong onto the Internet, but when it comes to an event such as Sunday's Super Bowl, the old medium still protects its turf.
You won't be able to catch a live video stream of Sunday's game anywhere on the Net, only on good old ABC itself."
It also highlights a new site:
"Even before the game, you can watch the Super Bowl of Advertising unfold at SuperBowl-Ads.com, a pioneering site that serves news about the ads in advance, offers still images from many of them and provides links to the few that are available in preview, including United Airlines' extravaganza, a surprising 60-second spot from a company just out of bankruptcy."
So, do enjoy the game today everybody, both online and off. If you miss any of the commercials, check them out on ifilm.com here. We'll tally the best ads later.
