If Windows 7 does not do much than repair the Vista damage, one wonders what the incentive to upgrade will be?

PCs are not getting faster, (multiplying cores only allow more concurrent apps to run) so what exactly is the value-added of a larger OS?

Secondly, the action is moving to mobile computing platforms - Macbook Air, netbooks, smart phones. What role does Windows play here, and what does that mean for the Microsoft "monopolistic on the desktop" business model?

I think this is like reviewing a Cadillac in teh 1970's. The world is changing and Microsft is unwilling/unable to change with that new world. Think DEC minicomputers as the model here, although clearly Microsoft is a lot smarter than DEC ever was.
