ON THE FRAGILITY OF FAKE STEVE JOBS
WALKING ON EGG-SHELLS
Fake Steve Jobs (aka FSJ) has his first post up today following his suspenseful unmasking a few days ago. He comments on the new product announcements from Apple by RSJ (aka Real Steve Jobs) yesterday.
I don't know about you, but knowing his identity as a senior editor at Forbes DOES make a big difference reading the post. I was hoping it wouldn't, and maybe it won't over time. After all suspension of disbelief is a fragile thing.
Also, I wonder how Daniel Lyons, the Wizard behind the Oz that was FSJ, will balance the need in his day-job to maintain and nurture relationships in the industries he covers with the requisite, snarky, going-for-the jugular candor, that made the unmasked FSJ so great. Those are two, sometimes opposing constituencies.
It's also a question of economics as an individual.
Does he take the risk, and plunge all his efforts into making FSJ a big franchise with Forbes' support? (He has a FSJ book coming out shortly).
Or does he also continue to give his all to his day-job.
These are dilemmas faced by any entrepreneur who has a promising start with a new thing.
Here's wishing RDL (Real Daniel Lyons) and FSJ all the best going forward.
