Fred Wilson asks a timely question today, in the wake of Hillary Clinton officially throwing her hat in the 2008 ring:
"A Return To Royalty?
It's not that I am against Hillary. I think she's smart and I generally agree with her politics.
But if she's elected President, the past four presidents will be from two families, the Bushes and the Clintons.
What does that say about our country and our democracy?"
Let's of course not forget the Kennedys not so very long ago.
It made me think of how I used to be so critical of my former country, India, for so many years.
For despite it's claim to be the "world's largest democracy", it's national politics have been marked by family dynasties like Nehru-Gandhi holding sway for decades.
It's a good question, Fred.
Are we emulating so many younger, developing democracies around the world?
Or hasn't it always been this way, in political systems young or old?
