ON AN ANIMATED HISTORY OF THESE UNITED STATES

COME TOGETHER, RIGHT NOW...

July4th05_1Google reminds us that it's July 4th in its own style this morning.  As you celebrate the country's 229th birthday, take a few minutes, ten to be precise, to view this animated movie at animatedatlas.com.  It's a lively, entertaining look at the history of how the nation came together.  Highly Recommended.

It's gut-wrenching to watch the pre-amble to the Civil War, even though you know how it turns out.  The whole thing underlines how many fateful twists and turns lead to the country we see today.  It's great to share with the young or old.

AppoIt may be basic in some places, but you'll be surprised at the few new things you'll learn, or the few old things that you'd forgotten you had learned.  Two extra point if you already knew the significance of Appomattox before seeing the video.

Happy Fourth Everybody!
